Half Torn Heart book review

Book:- Half Torn Heart
Author:- Navoneel Chakraborty
Genre:- Fiction
Publication:- Penguin Random House
Publication date:- 14 February 2019

Half torn heart was the first book from where i started my reading journey. It's the 14th book of Navoneel Chakraborty. Navoneel Chakraborty is known for the thrill and suspense he adds to his stories. If you're a beginner this can be a really good start for you as it binds your interest from the beginning to the end. It's one of the triumph of Navoneel Chakraborty.

Summary:- Shanay, a successful entrepreneur from a very strong family background, is about to marry Afsana, a girl with a quiet yet bold nature. He suddenly starts getting voice notes from a stranger that claims the fate of the story she is telling will be decided by Shanay himself. The voice notes open the pages of Afsana's past which revolved around Raisa her soul sister and Nirman the love of her life. The voice notes asked Shanay to call off the wedding. It's interesting to see how Afsana and Nirman fought for their love and how Raisa once the most important part and link between Afsana and Nirman became merely a memory to them.

Plot:- Nirman and Raisa are childhood friends who lived together in RBI quarter. Raisa always helped Nirman with everything from cycling to sports. Raisa had a tough childhood because her father was a drunkard and used to beat her and her mother too. Later Nirman left the quarter as his father was transferred leaving Raisa behind. But later on Raisa's father also got transferred and she got to meet Nirman again, but a changed Nirman. There she met her soul sister, Afsana. Afsana helped her through new school. Nirman never liked Afsana as he thought she was a brat and Raisa was getting influenced by her. Raisa failed in 10th std. and Afsana and Nirman got admission in same school resulting to which Nirman and Afsana fell in love. Later on Afsana's parents tricked her and took her to Australia for further studies left Nirman broken. Nirman also failed to reach the examination of his IIT entrance as he was kidnapped during the exam which made her father furious. On the other side Raisa got pregnant and her father found out about that. Both Nirman and Raisa decided to run away from their families and start a new life. There Raisa was fully devoted to Nirman's dream. They together became successful. But later on Raisa realised that Nirman's love for Afsana was still same as before.  So she decided to leave Nirman. After a while Nirman and Afsana met where they discovered that Raisa's dead. And Nirman found out that Afsana has developed hatred for him. But why??? There are some unrevealed secrets which no one knows.

Character:- The story consist of 3 protagonists AFSANA, RAISA AND NIRMAN.

Afsana is a girl of really bold and determinat character. Instead she is trying to be a brat just to gain her parents attention she is very goal oriented and she has always a planned future.

Raisa has a jumbled personality. She has audacity even after having a frightful childhood. She gave up her whole life for someone else.

Nirman is the most pampered one among all of the three. He is gentle man and it was really virtuous to see how he waited for 13 years for his love without complaining ever.

Conclusion:- Love can destroy someone and can build someone at the same time. Raisa who was the reason for Nirman and Afsana's togetherness ended up losing both of them. The story which was supposed to be hers' she gave it to Nirman and Afsana for the shake of love and friendship. Though she made a mistake but she sacrificed her whole life for Nirman. Raisa's story tells us, no matter how keenly you wanted the reality to be eluded, it is never gonna change.

About Nirman, he taught us that it's not necessary to be together with a person to love them. You can be miles away from someone and still love them. Despite of being so close to Raisa for all those years he was never attracted to her. His love for Afsana was sacred.

The way the writer had portrait the childhood of Nirman and Raisa is nostalgic. And the changes that appear during their adolescent is totally relatable.

Through Shanay, Afsana's fiance, the writer had tried to portrayed the major Indian male psychology. When he got to know about Afsana and Nirman he tried to take control over Afsana for self-worth. Shanay was a good person but the fact that loosing her fiance will degrade his male ego made him the villain of the story. This is how the male community of India is brought about. It is always about their ego. They always try to safeguard their ego by hurting other.

The book opens one after another interesting plots that will compell you to finish the book in one go. It is a complete treat to the reader.  The realisations, the revelations, make the book engrossing. Three people madly in love. And their love is so selfless that they are ready to destroy theirselves for other.

The book makes you realise that not every relationship is about flowing together forever. Sometimes, one just takes a little bit of the other person, surrenders a little bit
of oneself to the other person and then continues flowing independently,
sensing those acquired bits within oneself and cherishing them always.

The phrase that I liked the most from the book is "People who meant the world to us at one time, seemed like a distant memory at another. Our own reality changed
its face, and a huge part of our life went into accepting that change."

The climax of the story will leave you stunned. The pretty lovestory is completely heartwarming.
