Durjoy Dutta's You were my crush........, is based on a true life story of his cousin. It is one of the best sellers of Durjoy Dutta. In this story Durjoy Dutta is trying to portray the vulnerability and complications of people at the same time.

Summary:- Benoy, a young college student is finding his ways through life  after death of his mother who dies out of cancer. Since their parents got divorced, which was when he was very young, he doesn't have a good connection with his father. Due to which his mother's death left him all lonely. Benoy is a rich spoilt brat, this is what his whole college thinks, as his father keeps buying his professors for his marks, he has this big bunglow where he lives alone and he drives really expensive cars. But that's not the real Benoy. Even his closest one doesn't know who he is. Read the story of Benoy who got everything in his life from nothing.

Plot:- Benoy, he is a twenty year old  average looking (as he called himself) boy, who was the talk of the college because of his big house, expensive cars, and the fact thats he buys the professor for marks.

He has this most caring friend, Eshaan, who takes care of his everything in college.

The nights of excessive drinking, blackouts and bad hangovers were becoming a routine to his life. Bringing girls to his house, not attending college, everything in his life was anything a college student could want.

But as it is said all glitters are not gold. Benoy lost her mother to cancer a year ago, and his father was a stranger to him as his mother and his father got divorced when he was eight.  He was having a hard time through life but all the opulence given by his father to him was turning out to be blessing.

His father kept buying the professors as he didn't attended the last exams. Everyone in his college hated him for this.

Things were good in their own way but the loneliness always haunted him until he was compelled to do a project with Diya, a girl in his classroom who according to him was a nerd and they both were opposite to eachother.

Both of them didn't wanted to do the project together but the professor was strict enough.
That descion turned out to be surprisingly good for them. Within no time Diya and Benoy became best friends. They were inseparable. Benoy started studying and attending classes. Benoy's loneliness was fading away.

One day he was scrolling Facebook and he saw a really beautiful girl in Diya's timeline. He spend days finding out who she was. Later he found out that she was Diya's sister, Shaina.

Benoy realised that he has a facebook crush on Shaina. But he didn't wanted to ask Diya directly as he didn't wanted Diya to think that he was just hitting on her sister  as a jerk. Lately he got opportunities to meet her but  Diya didn't wanted Benoy to meet her sister as she thought that Benoy just wanted to sleep around with her.

But Benoy was in love, for the first time. But he being unable to talk to Shaina was dreadful for him. He was not even sure did Shaina loved him or not.

Things were getting worse for him. Diya and Shaina's parents got to know about Benoy and asked him to stay away from their daughters. He lost Shaina. He lost his dearest friend Diya.

During that time only his father gifted him a Bentley. He found packet in the car. That contained some photos of his father and mother together, and they seemed happy. Those were recently taken pictures. Benoy felt betrayed. All of these while he was feeling guilty about taking help from his father as he felt that he was cheating on his mother.

What was the reality of the photos??
Will Benoy be able to get a family??
Will Benoy get his love and his friend back??

Read Benoy's journey of discovering himself as responsible geniune guy from a completely spoilt one....

Character:-

Benoy, the male protagonist, I personally heated the character of Benoy. He went on committing mistakes and kept on covering them with shitty logics. He said that he wanted his father back in his life as he missed a family, but actually he was more attracted to the opulences his father gave him than he was to his father. His friend Eshaan was always concerned about him but he made him to breakup with his girlfriend because Benoy didn't liked her.

Diya, though she was not the love of Benoy's life, but she was also one of the female protagonist. Diya was the character that i loved the most. It would've been interesting to see Benoy and Diya falling for eachother.

Shaina, Benoy's love, the typical beautiful, charming, hot girl. Whom any boy would fall for. Though she was much into poetries which according to her sister was boring, but Benoy found them interesting. Shaina was a simple girl who was much involved in herself. The writer had tried to make her look simple and innocent and smart but he didn't forget to mention her sexy body.

Eshaan, Benoy's friend, he was the best friend everyone wants. The one who cares too much ans expect nothing. He was the sweetest person in Benoy's life.

Benoy's father was a career freak who lost his family for his career. Later, after death of his wife he tried to get his son back by buying him expensive stuffs. In short, he tried to buy his own son.

Conclusion:-

The only positive thing that i concluded from the story was no matter how much terrible person someone is, life always gives them chances to be a better one. Some take it, some not. So it's better to be the earlier one.

Coming to the story, the things to be liked in the story are very less. One time or another you will get disgusted by every character.

The book tries to portray that Benoy was a misunderstood character by all the people around him. But actually he doesn't even know his own real personality.

The book encourage the stereotype that someone tends to fall in love with the beautiful one.

There is not alot to say about the book. It is just good.

Though, I don't criticize someone's work but I would say that this is not the best book that i would recommend to someone. But if you're a fan of typical immature college drama you can prefer reading this.

The title of the book is more attractive than the story is.
